Welcome to Fall 2018 Interns

Welcome to the fall interns!

With the start of classes at the University of Arizona comes a new crew of undergraduate PWR! interns. The work these students accomplish during their internships includes helping to provide more programs and services to our members, as well as to further the progress of active research projects. This fall, we welcome Delanee Schwartz (Neuroscience) and Hannah Kleinbart (Public Health) to our team. Both will be part of PWR! through May of 2019, so please introduce yourselves and get to know them.

PWR!Gym university interns - neuroscience and physiology Delanee Schwartz, our new Neuroscience intern

How long have you been at the PWR!Gym?
One month regularly now.

What is your favorite thing about teaching/working at the PWR!Gym?
I love the constant positive environment and being able to watch the patients’ conditions improve session by session.

Why did you choose your major?
I chose my majors which are neuroscience and physiology because I know a fair amount of people with Parkinson’s and other neurological diseases and I am very interested in the brain. I also feel like you can’t truly understand the brain until you understand the body and how it interacts with the brain.

What is your favorite way to spend a day (outside of work!)
Playing soccer, working out, or watching sports!

Hannah Kleinbart, our new Public Health intern

How long have you been at the PWR!Gym?
I’ve been an intern at the PWR!Gym since August.

What is your favorite thing about teaching/working at the PWR!Gym?
I really like working with the PWP and helping them develop their skill sets. Additionally, I quite enjoy working with such a positive and supportive staff.

Why did you choose your major?
I chose to major in Public Health and Physiology because I have a passion for helping others and learning about how the human body functions. Eventually, I’d like to teach fitness classes around the world (ideally on a cruise ship), making use of my college coursework in addition to my fitness certifications.

What is your favorite way to spend a day? (outside of work!)
I love being in nature, especially hiking, and spending time with friends. Mainly, I’m an adventure-seeker and I find myself taking impromptu weekend trips to National Parks and destination hiking trails.
