Highlighting Andrea Kress

Taking a moment to highlight an amazing PWR!Gym staff member Andrea Kress.

An interview with Andrea:

How long have you been at the PWR Gym?

-I started working at the gym in the spring of 2015.

What is your favorite thing about teaching at the PWR Gym?

– I love our members and the community of the gym, having the opportunity to work with so many people who are motivated to push themselves every day is amazing. As an instructor I really love the creative challenge every class presents.

Why did you choose to become an OT? What drew you to the profession?

– I knew I wanted to work in a helping profession and I was drawn to both education and medicine, when I found occupational therapy it felt like a perfect marriage of the two. I love the profession’s focus on improving peoples lives through meaningful and functional activities.

Where did you grow up? What brought you to Tucson?

– I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. A combination of family, work and sunshine brought me here.

What is your favorite way to spend a day (outside of work!)

– Definitely out hiking!

We hear you cook some excellent Greek food! Care to share any healthy Greek recipes?

– I’ve been making a lot of vegetarian dolmades lately, they are grape leaves filled with rice, onions, pine nuts, herbs and spices and then topped with an egg/lemon sauce. Also in the summer I find myself eating a lot of Greek salads with cucumber, tomato, red onion, olives and feta.
